As children grow, they experience the world in an astonishing way.  They are constantly and keenly discovering their world and their own possibilities.  Parents can and should support and guide this discovery process by designing their rooms with unique kids’ furniture and accessories.  Kids’ bedrooms offer endless opportunities and trendy parents who are on the lookout for colorful, modern accessories and accents to complement their contemporary kid’s furniture collection want items that are versatile.  After all, contemporary furniture in general is timeless, stylish, and elegant.  So, why not introduce it along with contemporary accessories in your kid’s room.

These same parents are also looking for such designs that are appropriate for adults, as well.  The latest trend in today’s youth market seems to be versatile accessories and accent pieces that draw even adult shoppers by utilizing more refined, established color palettes that appeal to parents.  As a result, consumers are reacting to these attractive accessories and accent pieces by transforming their kids’ bedrooms with daring colors and graphic patters to give birth to a trendy, yet still kid-friendly, bedroom.

As parents are getting used to the idea of decorating a kid’s bedroom with not only contemporary kids’ furniture, but also contemporary accessories and accents, the popularity of stylish decor is becoming more appealing.  What is the first step to transforming a kid’s bedroom to a contemporary sanctuary?  Start with the actual furniture.  Choose sleek-lined furniture in either a white or natural finish.  Establish color stories throughout the bedroom with bedding, area rugs, nightlights, lamps, and accessories that bring life to the room.

Picking colors isn’t an easy task.  If you pick colors that are blah, the room may seem flat and undistinguished.  On the other hand, if you pick colors that are too bold, you just might overwhelm the room.  It’s not as difficult as it seems though.  So, which colors should one choose when going for the contemporary look for their kid’s bedroom?  It is always a good idea to show off fresh colors and combinations of colors that would be at home in either a girl’s room or a boy’s room.  Think gender neutral colors.  Trendy creamy beiges and chocolate browns are some of the favorite choices that work well, in addition to the typical gender color choices like blue or pink.  Don’t stop there though.  Natural grays and lime greens do wonders.  Not only are these colors kid-friendly, but parents will appreciate the understated sophistication of colors they could see in their very own bedroom.

What about accessories and accents that will complement the contemporary kids’ furniture?  Ideally, you want to search for products that not only add a trendy punch of color to the kids’ bedrooms, but you want these products to captivate you as an adult with their style and functionality.  Accent pieces like cubes, for example, adorned in colorful leather or fabric will bring tasteful color to the room and they can be arranged in such a way to create a variety of seating option and even tables.  The bonus is that these cubes can be used in an adult bedroom as well.
